Hi, My mother is a trying to trace our family history, and while she seems to be enjoying it, i have no doubt that she would like to know more information and a kind of 'how-to', to research any further. It seems that for the average person, that the genealogy sites are not as straight forward as some might believe.
I am wondering if there are any paid services that i could get her as a christmas present that would help trace our family history, and leave her with enough knowledge so that she could continue, and pickup wherever they may leave off.
I think that she would be over the moon and maybe more interested in researching the individuals, once she knows who they are. As i believe that finding them initially may (or may not) be the more laborious of tasks, i believe that their mini biography might be the more rewarding.
    Thank you in advance.

That is a nice thought - there's many freelance genealogists out there working.

The National Library has a list of researchers here.
