Is it a good time of year to chain harrow. Hoping to take advantage of the fine weather and harrow a few fields that have been grazed clean and cattle have left a few marks.

Harrow is one the new types with 2 levelling bars .

Or is spring time better to harrow

Would a regular land leveler do the same job as the chain harrow. Just thinking it's heavier than chain harrow and wider so would get through it quicker

I have a ritchie chain harrow with 3 levelling bars. I use a few concrete tyres to stop chains hopping. I did a few paddocks during the week does a super job

Spring time is best to harrow as you will get rid of all the dead grass that is lying there over the winter.

we'll agree to disagree on that 1,

any dead grass should be uprooted now , it actually acts as mulch and encourages growth,

by waiting until spring this grass is limiting growth plus the fact that if you get night frost you are further hitting grass come,

I'm talking about turn out from Feb. onwards
