Splitting Satellite cable

I have a cable running from my dish into tv room which is then split into satellite and terrestrial/saorview and enters the combo box.

I am looking to hook up a sky box as well. Only one of the satellite boxes will be on at a time. Would this work? So the cable would be split into satellite and saorview and then the satellite split again.

Yeah, if you need both boxes, that's the kind of splitter to use, as it passes the right frequency range, & only passes power from outputs to input.

What about a Sky + box that only has one cable from the dish, would one of these be suitable to split the signal and therefore have the two input feeds connected and hopefully operate independently?

No, each tuner requires a direct connection to an output on the LNB.

Another option would be a Smart Priority Switch

Master output take priority when main receiver is switched on, slave output takes priority when the main receiver is switched off.

    or

    2 Manual Two-Way A/B Satellite LNB Switches

I purchased the splitter (first one didn't work as it wasn't letting enough power through) Now it mostly works. There are some times when switching boxes the other box won't be able to find the satellite. For example, the Sky Box will say No Satellite signal received. I have to hard reboot the boxes and everything works again. Is there a more reliable set up I could use?

The problem there could be the number of splits in the line from the dish, sat/aerial combiner, sat/aerial splitter, priority switch, maybe dish under sized or slightly misaligned. The best solution would be a separate co-ax cable from the dish if possible.

Would something like http://www.freetv.ie/manual-satellite-switch/ work? I see they sell it onpulsat too and they say it can be "or for switching between 2 satellite receivers with a single LNB feed."

Or something like a satellite amplifier?

I included a link to the Pulsat manual A/B switch in a previous post, no harm testing it and not too much lost if it doesn't work, same applies to the in-line amp.

I'm sorry I can't believe I missed that reply! Thanks for the advice. I'll probably splash out and give them a try.
