Root canal

I had 1st stage of root canal treatment on a back molar which was heavily filled it cost 150.00 and was referred on to an endodontist I was told it would cost 80.00 consultation fee and 830 for completion of the root canal and I will probably need a crown also is this an excessive amount for a root canal. Sounds about right for a specialist root canal. A general dentist will be s bit less but if its complicated as back teeth often are (some have 5 or 6 canals). Good root canals are expensive, but the bad ones cost you even more...that tooth is irreplaceable.
