Whats the purpose of the "ride type" in the 520?
I had hoped it would auto fill the event type in garmin connect but it does not.

I think it is just a way of saving different display profiles, so you can have a set of data fields for training, and another for commuting, and a separate one again for the turbo. Bit odd seeing as you can have so many data screens anyway though

I don't think that is "Ride Type" That is "Activity" type, which some people use for recording different "bikes" rather than Activities(Training/racing/indoor). Since Garmin removed the ability to have "bikes", it is a handy hack.

Ride type is something new that has popped up after I have finished a ride or two recently, once telling me I was on Gravel and Tarmac, "do you want to save this ride type" or something like that. I think the other time it said I was on "commute", "do you want to save that ride type".

No idea why it came up or why it even exists.
