Are any of your Multi - Peril Farm insurance policies ( not Motor policies ) up for renewal at the moment and if so what percentage increase in premiums since last year. Thanks

Renewed last week. Premium was only up a couple of hundred euro. I went to a broker and tbh they couldn't compete with fbd. I paid 100 more than last year as I added eldest lad on to policy.

Guy from Zurich came out here last year, very disappointed with his attitude. Took ages to come back with quote which was dearer than fbd!

Must have been the same guy we rang. He was too busy to quote

Apologies OP for going slightly off thread. We don't have multi-peril, but house insurance is up by 20%

Does anyone else get the impression that FBD is absolutely desperate for money? We've had what feels like 20 phone calls from them in the past 2 weeks about re-newing policies. Are we the only ones?

I only got a call about 5 days before renewal, did I have any changes to make to the policy, told them we were shopping around this year and she was a bit pissy with me that other companies cover wouldnt be as good as FBD. She also said that some of the other companies dont even have claim departments in Ireland, I replied thatFBD are no angels in the claims department either

FBD give us a ring every 3/4yrs, called last year and had a look at the cover we,d be needing, ended up been about €200 more than Aviva, that's the closest they've every been. Competition is,nt great when it comes to farm insurance its a pity another few companies didn't enter the market. I only know of three FBD Aviva and Zurich any others out there??

If they were desperate for money they wouldn't be pissing off customers that have been good risks for the last 20 years. they're a hard act to follow at the moment. They definitely haven't the same advertising campaign going as they had on four or five years ago. Would love to know what the criteria for who to quote inflated prices too is.
Also hear that they are not competitive if a ex customer goes back to them after a year.....anyone any experience of that

We've been using a broker for a good few years. Find them very good. We had a storm damage claim a couple of years ago and they handled all of the interactions with the insurance company. I felt they were very much working in our behalf at that time. Oliver Murphy on the quay in Waterford. He got us covered at short notice on another venture a number if years ago when others who has promised that providing cover would be no problem reneged and wouldn't even give us a quote.

    .

My quote has gone up by 39%. I presume this is a slap on the wrist for me as I lodged a complaint about the bad service. Two different fbd guys called out & neither of them had come back with a quote for extra business 3 months later

Had new quotes from Aviva and Zurich for multi-peril and tractor. FBD quoting 34% more expensive than either at renewal then dropped to just 15% dearer after a phone call. Anyone know of anything to look out for with Aviva or Zurich farm policies?

    Thanks

FBD rose my quote by 200 this year after rising last years by 300(settled on 200 up).

I went looking for a quote this year after being tied the last few years and while waiting for that quote, I rang FBD to see how much they could drop my quote. They could only come down 100 unless the area manager came out which he did Thursday. He dropped it by 150 which I was happy enough with but I said I'd ring the following day to wait for the other quote.

The other quote from a broker was higher so I rang back to accept the FBD quote and was told it had dropped another 20 euro.

So my farm insurance rose by 17 euro after changing some of the figures insured upwards so happy enough with that after last years riding:rolleyes:
