Can I paint skirting boards using ceiling paint? There IS a small touch of varnish on the boards.

You could but it will look terrible and probably scuff

You can use any paint anywhere, but it can end up looking ****.

If there's any kind of sheen or varnish already on the boards, then you're probably wasting your time. The paint will likely start to flake off and you'd have been better off leaving it alone.

    It's a false-economy.

Ceiling paint is cheap because it's not made to be durable or resist scuffing- you just don't need it because you never touch a ceiling so there's no wear-and-tear.

The skirting boards will look fine at first but you'll want to paint them again in a few months.

No. Get a tin of oil based satinwood.

Not shine on the skirting. Wood paint is expensive
