Illustrator CS6 quitting when image trace - help

    Sorry if this is not the correct place!

    I have Illustrator CS6, seems to be working 100% fine until I try and image trace anything - then it "error - unexpectedly quit".
    A lot of my working process is scanning in, using image trace then reassembling sections in P/S - so this is very frustrating for me with a deadline soon.

    Has been working grand for about 2years I would say with no issues.

    On Mac Book Pro and had not updated to OS X EL Capitan until after these issues arose and turning it off and on again has not helped at all.

    Please can anyone give advise? :(

    Google has a bunch of discussions happening on this subject. Advice coms back to uninstall reinstall. Check ram is seated. Clear preferences.
