Toyota CD player/radio dead?

My son has a Toyota Corolla 02-07 and when he started the engine today, the cd/radio/trip computer display didn't come on and there was a strange whirring noise every few seconds. I thought maybe a fuse had gone, but I checked the CIG 15A fuse, and it was fine.

Below is the CD player I have. Anyone have any ideas?

I checked all the views under the bonnet and behind the glove box. All look fine. I noticed that the cigarette lighter works too, so I don't think this is a fuse issue, as the cd player operates off that fuse too.

I think there's another feed to the radio that comes through the dome fuse.

Is there anything else not working, like the lights on warning buzzer, interior lights, boot light etc?

Is that feed behind the radio, should I take the panels off and take a look? Everything else seems to be working fine.

Just check that the dome fuse is intact. Can't remember rightly but I think it's under the bonnet.

Yep, dome fuse under the bonnet, it's fine too.

I don't think it's a fuse related problem. There has to be some power because when I stick a CD into the slot, it loads it very slowly, stuttering as it does so.

I am thinking the entire unit is just jammed and done for. If I get a spare from a breakers, will I need a code?

No they're not coded but there are a few different versions that look the same. Breakers will be up to speed. Might be worth getting your existing unit diagnosed and repaired instead.

Young fella hopped into the car this morning. Radio working fine. These Toyota's are great, fixing themselves :pac:
