Anyone else get a email from Amazon this morning?
    Hello XXXXXX XXXXXXX,

This is an important message from Amazon.

At Amazon we take your security and privacy very seriously. As part of our routine monitoring, we discovered a list of email address and password sets posted online. While the list was not Amazon-related, we know that many customers reuse their passwords on several websites. We believe your email address and password set was on that list. So we have taken the precaution of resetting your Amazon password. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused but felt that it was necessary to help protect you and your Amazon account.

To regain access to your Amazon customer account:

    1. Go to Amazon and click the "Your Account" link at the top of our website.

    2. Click the link that says "Forgot your password?"

    3. Follow the instructions to set a new password for your account.

Please choose a new password and do not use the same password you used with us previously. We also highly recommend that you choose a password that you are not using on any other sites. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

    Sincerely,

    Amazon

Got one of those back in June this year but it all depends on what list goes around; simply go to the relevant Amazon link yourself rather than click on an e-mail and you can change it safely (and as always make sure your password is site unique rather than recycling the same password a gazillion times).

    Looks like a phishing attempt.

To check if you have any real problems logging in just go to Amazon yourself (without clicking anything in the email) and attempt to log on.
If it all works then you have nothing to do. Just delete the mail.

I'm instantly suspicious of things like this but this one does look fairly legit as it's directing you to go to your Amazon customer account yourself and not asking you to click a link or directing you to a specific website.

That is exactly how their e-mail looks like and it would contain no links if it was from Amazon; latest one I have was from account-update@amazon.co.uk. The fact that they can quote your first and last name correctly is also a good hint that it's a real one (rather than something like Hello MrBig773, etc.).

Yep I just changed it by opening a fresh window and following standard procedure, I googled and there was a flurry of reports for Oct 12th as well.
