Hi, The software that came with a new Panasonic Lumix FZ27 has interfered th Photoshop 7. I installed Silverfast Epson-se 6.6.2r5 and Slkypix Developer Studio 6 and some more software that came on the cd.
My photoshop 7 now works strangelynow. When I use the square crop tool to crop a scanned photo the square changes to a circle on the image. There are other strange changes now in Photoshop and I am at my wits end.
Is there a compatability problem with Photoshop 7 and the new Panasonic software?
    Help Please.

Maybe post some screenshots. It may help to work out the problem.

Photoshop 7 is quite old so it is possible that there are compatibility issues but the first thing that comes to mind is are you using the marquee tool ? or the crop tool?.

You could try disabling the plug-ins to see if that helps. Edit - Preferences - Plug-ins

    Hi All,
Photobox is a photo printing company I use for my prints. Photoshop 7 is my "old" photo editing software I have been using without any problem since it came out.
    My Plug-ins are already disabled.
I am using the square marquee tool and when I use it to crop image it changes to a circle.
This morning I have also found ps701.exe which is an update from Adobe for Photoshop 7 which I have intalled and it has made no difference.
Am I into getting the latest Photoshop version?

ok so you're using photoshop 7 and you've disabled plugins. What do you mean when you say you're using the marquee tool to 'crop' the image? Where does the 'scanned image' come from? Is it imported via silverfast ?

Make a list, in order, of exactly what you're doing, what tools you're using, what your expectations are, and what actually happens. Supplment with screenshots. Your description of your workflow is a little confusing at the moment.

Does it only happen to the marque tool? For instance when you use the gradient tool it doesn't switch to paint bucket tool instead?

Does Photoshop have macros, or something like it? There could be something set up to change what left click actually does.

A quick workaround would be to use the shape tool and just make your selection from that path.

I think you can download Photoshop CS2 for free, unless you have a particular fondness for PS7. It is two generations above what you are using now.

Thank you all for your help. I have downloaded P/S Creative Cloud and it has resolved all my problems.
    Cheers:)
