    Hi all,

I'm currently trying to arrange a mortgage on a period property (~150 years old) and need to coordinate house insurance on it.

Ideally, we would like to renovate the property before occupying it - is this a good idea? There are some items in the house that would be great to fix up front - leaks in the roof and replacing a fuse-board age electrical system. Otherwise, we could occupy it for a few months while sorting out the logistics of the builder and speak with the insurer again about the renovation work at that point in time.

Finally, please PM any recommendations for insurance companies! Even if it's just the name, I'll be able to give them a call without wasting both of our time.

    Thanks,
    Z
