+1 Get a bus or taxi from the airport to Bristol Temple Meads (main railway station in the city), it's a one hour non-stop train to Cheltenham Spa railway station, an online one-way ticket is £9.

It's 80 kms from Bristol airport to Cheltenham, if you go to book a taxi they'll assume you're JP McManus or Mick O'Leary and charge accordingly.

You can book a rail journey all the way from the airport to your destination. No need to buy a separate bus ticket, your train ticket works on the bus that goes from the airport to Temple Meads.

Its over fifty miles from Bristol Airport, well south of the city, to Cheltenham. Of course a taxi fare is going to go gangbusters.

When I was last in Bristol Airport in 2012 there was a First Great Western ticket machine in the arrivals area. The buses to Bristol Temple Meads are frequent and the train service is decent. A no-brainer to do that to get to Cheltenham.

Adding my voice to the chorus saying to get the train. There'll be plenty other ways of spending the taxi fare that weekend ;)
