I'm getting sky q installed ,but I have had sky on the past and use a sat box for free view will I be still able to use the freeview box when they install the new sky q or will I have to tell them to leave the original sat dish alone and have two dishes

When installing SkyQ they fit a new type of wideband LNB on the dish which isn't compatible with other satellite receivers. But they have installed a hybrid LNB for people who use both SkyQ and other satellite receivers in he same house but they are reluctant to fit them unless the homeowner insists.

Can I run sky q off one cable and which one is best ,I just want to use another box

SkyQ in a domestic situation requires 2 cables unfortunately with their new twin output wideband LNB. Their 6 output hybrid LNB (2 SkyQ outputs/4 legacy outputs) with extra cabling would be required if you have other satellite receivers. As I said previously they are reluctant to fit these hybrid LNBs, you would have to insist they fit one if you want to continue using your other satellite receiver if ordering SkyQ.

In multi dwelling units such as apartment blocks where single cable runs to each apartment would be common a different setup is used where SkyQ and existing legacy receivers would be used across different units, i.e. dSCR multiswitch/Quattro LNB solution. This would be a slightly expensive solution for a domestic installation.

Not sure what you mean by taking out a wire?

Good to hear you got the hybrid LNB, you still require 2 cables from the hybrid LNB to the SkyQ receiver, if you want to use another receiver with this hybrid LNB you will have to run a cable from one of the other legacy outputs on that LNB, there should be 4 spare.

If you're asking can you take one of the cables from the rear of the SkyQ receiver and connect it to another satellite receiver this will not work as the signal on these 2 cables to the SkyQ receiver isn't compatible with other receivers, a new cable from one of the other "legacy" outputs will be required.
