Ford s Max tail gate won't open

    Hi, can anybody help me? The tail gate is stuck on my 06 Ford smax and when I turn on the engine there's a loud continuous rattling noise from the tail gate. I've tried brute force to open it whilst clicking on the key but no luck.

    Any and all help appreciated.

    It's a known problem on these (and other Ford models). Going by what I've read, you will need to by a new latch, which don't come cheap! There is a hack to get the old one to open but once you do it wont close again. So make sure you have a new one ready to replace it.

    [I have a different problem with mine. The latch works fine but I have a warning message that the tailgate is open. Replacing the latch did not resolve it.]
