pay in public sector

    hi all,i am just wondering if you get a job in the sector, when you start on your salary does this stay the same or does it increase yearly? or does it depend what type of a job you have in the public sector?

    Usually pre defined pay scales. Should be publically available if you search you'll find them.

    thanks for the reply,it stated a payscale for new entrants post 2011 and entrants pre 2011,but it never said anything about an increase in salary

    As long as you pass your PMDS (performance management), you will get an increase each year. So if you look at the EO, AO and HEO scales here - http://www.pseu.ie/pay-rates.254.html


    So for EO for example:

    Year 1 - €27,464
    Year 2 - €29,418
    Year 3 - €30,171
    Year 4 - €32,687
    Year 5 - €34,360
    Year 6 - €35,977
    Year 7 - €37,588
    Year 8 - €39,166
    Year 9 - €40,760
    Year 10 - €42,311
    Year 11 - €43,909
    Year 12 - €44,967
    LSI----
    Year 15 - €46,473
    Year 18 - €47,975

    In general, it increases incrementally year-on-year and eventually stops. In semi-states such as Bord na Móna, VHI, etc., I'm not sure if staff necessarily get increments.
