Thermostat?

Hi. Got a new Veismanns combo boiler out in 4 years ago. Not zoned but on a timer for heat and hot water separately. At the moment, I use the timer. However, house gets very hot and then I have to turn off the heat then turn on again if it gets cold etc.
I would love to be able to set a thermostat at a certain temperature and for the heat to come on and off to maintain this temperature. Have two thermostats kn the wall but do not seem to be working - they are in the hall and the landing - the two coldest places in the house! Should I just get these fixed or would you recommend something else. Not good with heating - 4 bed semi. Thanks in advance.

    Hi.

It looks like I have similar problem. I have ideal classic 250 ff but no thermostats. I wonder if there are any thermostats that I can install on my own.
I would like to keep the boiler and save monies on it. Currently heating is timer-based and the house goes either very hot or very cold.

Any ideas what thermostat I can plug there? and how to get started?

    Many thanks,

What is the thermostat on the boiler turned up to. Often I find people have the boiler thermostat up full when there is no need to, with circa mid point usually being adequate.

Hooking in a wired thermostat onto an existing system really depends on where the time clock is located compared to ideal locations for the stat. Sometimes it may be easier to convert to a wireless set up.

Thanks k.flyer. Control panel in the wall in the kitchen, under the boiler. Thermostat on boiler set to 5 (max6) but not sure if this is a thermostat or controls the heat in The radiator?

A wall stat would usually be located in the hallway or the living area, so you would need to work out how to get wiring from there back to the timer, or go wireless, but that means changing the time click as well.
Boiler stat may be a bit high, bring it back to 3 and see how things work for you.
