Anybody been to Brighton - what are the options in getting there (from Dublin)? And any recommendations for hotels?

    Thanks.

Yes flight from Dub-Gatwick and then train from Gatwick to Brighton. Quite easy as train station is in the airport.

Yes its an easy trip from Gatwick. Buy your rail tickets in advance on national rail and you will usually save quite a bit over buying on the day

The grand is probably brightons most famous hotel

The Grand isn't very grand. Brighton has a surprising lack of decent hotels for a tourist destination; the Grand is one of the better ones though. The Barcelo Old Ship was nice when I stayed there.

Hilton Hamptons is nice and really cheap. The only issue is that you have to walk through the underpass which is full of junkies and homeless (obviously there is a longer way around).

No, same as any other UK city really. They just tend to congregate around there. Saying that locals walk through there without issue and we didn't have any issues either.

I just wouldn't recommend it after dark on your own.
