Hi,

Just wondering if you had something on your mind that you really wanted to get off your chest, would you feel comfortable and at liberty to say it even if the other person did not want to hear what you had to say?

If it was someone else's private information that's when I wouldn't be at liberty to say. If the other person didn't want to hear it then no, I wouldn't feel comfortable saying it.

I'd say it if they're my friend and it's something they needed to hear. They're not getting anywhere being pandered to with their head in the sand. For example, my ohs brother cheated on his long term girlfriend (my friend) in our house last night. I told him last night I'd tell her, and this morning I told him he better do it because if she doesn't know this evening, I'll tell her. He's a coward though and is trying to get my OH to talk me down so I know he won't tell her.

Why?
There's a difference saying something nasty just to get something off your chest, "listen Karen, I never liked you and I'd have hit you with my car already except you'd leave too big of a dent in it" and telling someone something they don't want to hear like "he cheated on you" or "he has a kid he has nothing to do with" or "you're making a simpleton out of yourself every weekend, you cannot drink more than three drinks, you need to cop on".

Life isn't perfect that you can waltz through with your head buried in the sand ignoring problems and coming out the other side completely unscathed

I thought this was about telling someone something about yourself but they don't care so they don't listen to you properly.
If it's abut telling people something they don't want to hear but it's for their own good, I'd do that if they're repeatedly doing the same stupid thing or putting someone down and needing to realise they have their own flaws.

Yes it involves episodes of infidelity. There is this girl, very two faced, who made her long term boyfriend wait 8 months for sex then did the dirty with 2 different guys over 2 separate weekends! I feel really sorry for the dupe.

How do you know how long it was before they had sex? And when you say she 'made' him wait? Do you mean she had him locked in a room for 8 months ? Sure if he wasn't happy to wait couldn't he just have broken up with her? Unless they are teenagers or something where waiting that long would be understandable.
I can understand you wanting to tell him about the cheating if he's your friend but I don't see how the 8 month wait for sex is relevant.

Unless this effects someone you care about then I wouldn't bother. You call her 'this girl', so maybe it's someone you just dislike.

Say for example this effected someone close to me, yes I absolutely would tell. I wouldn't want to see someone I love making a sap out of themselves for someone that's cheating on them. Someone outside of that circle, let them sort out their own problems.

But I would expect relations to be a bit cold afterwards as people can take it out on the messenger, at least til it sinks in.
