    Hello,
I am Italian recently married to a Colombian. We have been living in Ireland for the past 3 years. He was in Ireland with a Stamp 2 (student) visa which could not be renewed this year as he graduated a few months ago. His visa now expired at the end of September, we got married on October 5 and sent all the documentation required to the EU Treaty Rights office in order for him to get his visa renewed with a stamp 4 (allowing him to work full time).
We sent the documentation already 5 weeks ago (before his old visa expired) and we haven't heard anything from the office yet, but we are well aware of the backlog they are currently experiencing.
Would anyone know if he can travel outside Ireland and be able to re-enter the country using our marriage certificate? Or is he not allowed to leave the country until he receives the new documentation?
Thanks to anyone who would take the time to asnwer this.

Mod Note: The Weddings forum doesn't deal with visa issues, so I have moved your thread to the Legal Discussion forum, where they may be able to help.
