What's it like basically? I have an interview tuesday morning and I'd like an idea of what the job is like... 12 people in the last month left my local so I'm a little concerned

Not worked there myself but pretty anyone I've encountered who did have said it's a horrible place to work.

Best craic I've ever had. Decent pay for the type of job. I still have friends there and they are on 13-14 an hour but the contracts are dofferent now. Its harder to get past the probation now 6 months plus 2x 3's.

I guess it depends on manager to it being horrible or not, but that's the same anywhere.

Completely Depends on what store and what dept your in.

I worked there. It was grand. Its basic work. stack shelves, checkout, Tidy. Its what you make of it.

People leaving now may be due more to do with casuals getting other work due to Xmas run in than bad work conditions per se. Had a daughter who worked in Dunnes once. Didn't love it. Left and hated other job worse.

I think they actually like to have a high turnover to keep workers on tenderhooks. They have very little respect for their workers and do not recognise trade unions.

Penneys or Tesco would be better employers.

Worked in 2 separate Dunnes between 2005-2007. hated it.

Worked in Tesco for 2 years, better money, conditions, management, better job.

I now work as a trucker delivering to Dunnes amongst other places and they make absolute slaves out of us.

I'd never again work for Dunnes directly.

Pennys are just as bad from what I hear! It's only a temp Christmas position, I applied for Tesco but didn't even get to interview.

I wormed for Penneys last Christmas on a 10 week contract. I agree with this.

Brilliant employer, good pay, nice managers, flexible with working hours. Really thorough training and easy enough work.

Penneys are much better employers, by a mile. I worked in 2 Dunnes for 4 and a half years. Had briliant craic with people who worked there alright but it was an awful place to work. There's a top-down attitude of pure nastiness- HR, management, store management, head office. Some managers were ok, more were not. Constant battles over hours, days off, everything.

It's fine to make ends meet for a while i.e. Christmas contract but not somewhere you should aim to be long term.

I'm happy enough to just go ahead with it for christmas time and if the money is good enough I'd keep on for a little while through the new year to bulken my savings account, but definitely don't intend for it to be long term

I'm going back to college to study culinary arts next year so I assure you I'll be gone! I don't think they're keeping the Christmas staff on anyway, the shop is very quite all year, it just gets a boost during Christmas as do most
