Under cabinet light connection querry

    Hi all,

I have got some under-cabinet LED light that I connected into a cable (flat grey, i am guessing 1.5mm copper) left by the electrician under the wall cabinet that is connected to a switch.

I cut the cable supplied with the light (came with a plug) and connected it with the wall cable using connector.
The light cable is rated at max 2.5Amp and as maybe 0.5mm copper, I don't know what is the amp rating on a light circuit in a recently built house, but is there a risk the small wire will overload or overheat?

Is it ok to use as is or should i change the cable going into the transformer?

    Thanks
