As the title, I've got a 2005 mk2 Ford Focus that is giving a rattling or kinda knocking sound when accelerating. It's definitely louder at lower revs.

    Any ideas?

It could be a misfire, those cars give issues with the coil pack and also water leaking into the cam cover filling the spark plug wells with water. Is the check engine light on?

No it isn't. I changed the spark plugs last week, no signs of wet or anything on them.

Try changing the oil if you haven't done it recently. In the cold older oil will take longer to heat up to be fluid enough between valves etc, so it will be noisier inside the cylinder head.

Was hoping you'd come along Hal!

I did change the oil a few months back with semi synthetic oil but it didn't seem to make much difference.

    Engine mount???

Could well be an engine mount, and there easy enough to check with a pry bar (passenger/gearbox). The driver side is easy to check, it has a cap which can be removed, inside is a cushion check it for rips or it might be leaking grease. The other thing I would say about the rattle is check the heat shield under neath the car around the exhaust. All this can be checked in a local garage on a lift if your not equipped to do so yourself.
