Im currently in 1st year studying Tv and Media Production so I need a laptop that can run editing software such as Avid, Premiere Pro etc along with maybe a bit of gaming such as Football Manager etc, nothing major

Would also be interested in learning how to Program and Photoshop etc further down the line so any help would be much appreciated

Cant really stretch the budget any more and would preferably only want to be spending 500

You would need fairly decent spec for high res video editing. 8GB ram min and an i5 CPU. Ideally an SSD. Not sure 500 would get you close to that though.

Avid/Ppro are down at the workstation side of the spectrum.

Get a netbook for taking notes and start saving towards a lot larger a budget.
