Hi, Had a weird situation yesterday when NCT put as fail Nearside Dip Beam light (aiming too high). The main problem that the lights are self-leveling and i am not sure if those can be adjusted. I did test myself and dont see any problems with light lining, see picture below. Just thinking could this be a human error at NCT and i should just rebook and try again.

Difficult to tell how close you are to the wall with the picture, but they look a little high on my phone.

Did you get a tyre or any suspension work done on the car recently? I believe on my car that the self leveling system ties into the stability control that has suspension travel sensors on each wheel. Could one of those be the fault?

I just changed front 2 tyres before the test so could this be the tyre pressure or tyres themselves?

That light pattern looks an unusual shape

ECE style projector pattern. Pretty standard although most projectors use the American DOT pattern.

I have them, they can fail and they can be adjusted. I went to my local tyre place so just head back to where you got your new tyres.

I'm aware sugar ece pattern looks like but this looks very different. Shouldn't there be a clear kind of flare away upwards and to the left after the centre of each beam

I'm sure it's the camera that is too sensitive to light making the faint sections look very bright. You'd need to lower exposure when taking a picture to make it look like it looks in real life.

No, my car doesn't have the flare. My lights turn, was a bit weird the first time I drove in fog and noticed the beams moving.

Are the tyres exactly the same specs as the rear ones?

Can you adjust the beam up and down as usual? Any noise emitted from the self leveling motors? Just thinking if the stub has broken off or popped out of it's housing.

What make of car is it? I know factory xenons on VAG cars need VCDS or VAGCOM (analytics computer) to adjust factory self levelling xenons.

Not sure how they could be out of alignment. I have an Audi Allroad from new that now has 240k miles on it and never had to adjust the xenons. Were bulbs replaced recently? Do the lights still hunt when you turn them on (i.e. move up and down before settling)?

Looks like i found how to fix the issue. I lower the beam with the help of some screws and checked pressure in the tyres, looks like right tyre had more pressure than the left one. Hope this time will pass the test :) Thanx all for suggestions.

It would want to be some amount of tyre pressure to cause headlight alignment issues.
