HDMI Input Vs DVB-T

My main 55" TV has full HD capability. (It is beside the 2TB HD Skybox)

The Skybox HD output is connected to a DVB-T Modulator.
The DVB-T Modulator output is distributed to various TVs around the house.

Which would give the the best picture on my main 55" TV?
    1) Use a DVB-T signal from the distribution amplifier.

    2) Use a 2-way splitter on the HDMI from the Skybox
Sending one signal to the TV.
Sending the other signal to the distribution amplifier.

    DVB-T Modulator

Can you give the make & model number please?

If there is no noticeable difference in the picture displayed on the TV when connected to

    1. The modulator
    2. The Sky box

then I would continue as you are.

I haven't got the modulator yet. (I'll have it setup by wednesday)

I don't know whether I should buy a passive HDMI splitter?

Audio isn't an issue as I use Optical from the skybox

If your using the optical out, then use Hdmi. As the modulator will most likely create a delay and sound will be out of sync
