Finding out old district court appearance dates

    Hi All,

I recently have to fill in a form for employment purposes outlining any previous summons to court. Both of these happened at district level over 10 years ago. They would also be classified under the spent convictions legislation.

I cant remember for the life of me the dates I was in court and I have to declare them on my application. How would I go about retrieving this information?

Would anybody be able to point me in the right direction. Thanks

Call the local district court office in which you appeared with your full name, date of birth and address at the time of the offences and they SHOULD be able to track it down for you.

Isn't it unusual for a job application to seek details on a summons as opposed to convictions?

Thank you ;) I will make it my business to call in on Monday.
As per the other poster it is unusual except if you are working with children or vulnerable adults, even if you have spent convictions for minor motoring offences some job applications demand you to declare all previous summonses to court. As well as any convictions or interactions with Gardai etc

Ah of course, best of luck with the job application.

How would the District Court get hold of a defendant's date of birth?

If they were summoned to court on foot of a gardai summons then the DOB would be recorded. But, if it was a local authority or an post for example, then no DOB would be on the summons.

If I get a speeding or parking ticket and fail to pay it or if I forget to produce my driving licence within 10 days so I get summonsed, how did anyone get my date of birth?

Speeding tickets TEND to be from the GoSafe so no DOB, parking summons are NORMALLY issued by council, no DOB and if its failure to produce then you've already been in contact directly with gardai so chances are they've established your identity BEFORE you've been let go on your way.
