noob question loudspeaker stands

Have a pair of Tannoy Mercury M2 Loudspeakers. Since moving here they've been living on the floor which is probably not ideal. Thinking of buying loudspeaker stands -maybe something like these Do the speakers actually attach to the stand in some way or do they just sit on it ? If so what is to stop children/pets or…

Do the speakers actually attach to the stand in some way or do they just sit on it ?

If so what is to stop children/pets or drunk/careless adults knocking them off the stands :eek:

Also is it ok to use spiked feet on a laminate floor ?
