    Hello

Im considering buying a Ford Focus but as unsure what engine to go for. Its for general and motorway use. Im looking at 2012 to 2013 year.

Would anyone know which engine is the best overall for this car either diesel or petrol seeing as changes in diesel prices may be introduced from the budget.

Thanks a million for any info.

You will be hard pushed to find a petrol focus the 1.6 diesel would be way more common.

The budget had no increase in any fuel duties. How many miles/km will you be covering a year?

Indeed, the "best" engine is a bit academic - in the real world there's only one option, the french diesel engine.
    500+ focusssss 2012-2013
23 petrol, of which several are ST etc.

Wow. That's a great statistic. 23 petrols. Mental.

OP, what type of driving do you do? If it's mostly short stop/start type driving around town then a diesel is not really suitable for the job or of any benefit to you. Unfortunately as others have said the majority of Ford Focus in your field of view will be diesel.
