'Mystery' Application

I applied for a job via a recruitment company.

I was told today that the company I was applying to already had an application on file for me.

I haven't applied directly to the company. I was aware of who the company was but only after the recruiter sent my application in.

So I have no idea who made this application. Its a public sector job whose application process is handled by a third party platform. I have checked my email using several search criteria for a confirmation of the application but nothing. I have checked my job application log and nothing matches.

I have been trying to get in touch with the company I applied to but cant get past the switch board.

Has this happened to any one before?

Is them having the CV going to be an issue for you ie they won't consider you etc ?
Have you given your CV to any agency who send it out without your permission?

Would your recruitment agent not be able to give you a contact in HR and a direct dial number

If its a public service job they should have a FOI officer or a data protection officer, and the switch will either give you a name or put you through. The DPA website has a list of named persons for registered companies.

Are you on LinkedIn etc that someone in hr headhunted
