Bargains in January

I am looking for a particular supermini, 3(ish) years old. Preferably buy from a dealer. Would I better off to wait (from price and choice) until January when dealers will have lots of trade-ins on their hands? Or could it be argued that they are selling so many new cars than that they won't be concerned about discounting their used lot?

Despite the urban myth used car prices don't magically drop on January 1st. Dealers tend to reduce their prices from November onward as they want to make room for new trade ins they get in Jan/Feb and March which is normally the busiest time for new cars sales. Generally the next time they reduce prices of used are usually in March or April.

if cost is a big concern, have you priced up any potential savings, by importing from the uk?
