I want to get a taxi, looking for advice

Ok before I begin I am looking for constructive advice and help. I really don't want people being negative thank you.

I am 26 I have no desire to work in an office anymore. I have done deliveries in the past all around Dublin and already have a very good knowledge of the city. I have had a full licence since I was 17. I want to give it a go as I like the flexibility in the hours and I enjoy driving.

I know what I need to do to actually get the licence but realistically I am trying to find out how much it would cost to rent a plate to get me started.

I have seen in the news that insurance is crazy now for taxi men. With that and renting a plate and car it looks like it will cost a lot to get going. Can anybody give me some kind of indication of the running costs if someone has to rent the plate and car. I would appreciate any type of general breakdown of what it would likely cost on a weekly basis. I am currently saving with my partner and would like to try and gauge how long I would have to hold off before I can give it a proper go. I would very much appreciate any helpful information and constructive advice.

    John
