I really am starting to look hard at the first get Cooper S. They are coming into my Bangernomics price range and they are pretty nifty little motors.

They handle well and the whine from the supercharger is pure deadly.:cool:

What I don't know is how are they parts wise in terms of price??

Are there any commonly replaced parts or problems that cost a fortune on these??

    Cheers all

Powersteering pump will fail. Pricey pump. Doing it diy isn't much fun without a lift.

Window motors will fail. Awful awkward yokes to do.

Airbag underseat connectors on some cars don't connect very well at all.

Not sure if the R53 ever had the stupid stupid oil filter housing that some of the R50 coopers/ones had. Some had a plastic cage and spring attached to the cap that would stick in the filter and go in the bin. Even bmw/mini specialists seem to suffer from this every now and then. You'll be looking at minimum of timing chain replacement to repair the damage of a rushed oil change.
