Lads - thinking of modifying the corner of a shed to provide accommodation (bed and toilet) for busy times of the year (like lambing). Would I need to get planning for this or is it exempt? Thanks

I think if you put a sign 'dog house' on the door most planners understand and it's exempt.

All joking aside, who will know about it if it's in an existing shed? I'd say bang away. Where are you plumbing toilet to, or is it going to be a commode/bed pan job?

I don't know if it's exempt or not, but if it's not, and the co co make you build it to current normal building regulations, expect that to drive up the cost to something like 100+/sq foot. Personally I'd be building it as a farm office, with a bathroom, that you happen to store a mattress in the corner of ha.

Buy yourself a little caravan and reverse it into the shed. Problem solved.

Who will know about it? If anyone questions it just tell them it's the dog house and you didn't get to use it yet ;)

You'd need planning technically. You'd also need planning for a mobile though.
