    Hi,
Im scheduled to have a brain mri in the hermitage clinic next week due to chronic headaches for 2 months. Can anyone tell me how long I can expect to have to wait for my gp to get the results. I'm assuming if its bad news I will hear quicker
    Thanks

I had an MRI of head/spine done privately and I had to wait 2 weeks - I had a CAT Scan of head non-private and that was also roughly 2 weeks so I assume it may be the same for you?

To be fair, if it happens to be bad news it might be quicker or slower (given that more doctors will examine a more suspicious scan than a normal one).

    I wish you luck x

I had MRIs in the Galway Clinic, which I believe is a sister clinic of the Hermitage and I had the result in 2 days. Be sure to ask them on the day when you can expect them to be sent to your GP and then follow up with your GP to make sure you're not left waiting for a call to once they arrive. Best of luck with the MRI.

Edit to add that my results were normal and the 2 day turn around is their normal timeframe in the Galway clinic, I wasn't a special or urgent case or anything like that.

I had an inpatient MRI a few months ago with results a few hours later and a private MRI in affidea a few weeks ago. Affidea said results would always be sent to the referring doctor within 48 hours tops, they also give you a cd with all your images on it when you're leaving

Thank you all for your replies and kind words of support. Had my mri on sat. They said my gp would have the results within 3 working days but I'm taking it as a good sign that I didn't hear anything today. It's going to be a long 3 days
