Sky to Vodafone - is there advantage in using Switcher?

I'm thinking of switching from Sky (47.50/mo out of contract) to Vodafone Home Essentials (40 for 6 months, then 45/month).

Had a look at the switcher site and placed the order through that, there was some promise at the top of the page of a discount, but confirmation when I placed the order with Switcher. Should I have done it directly with Vodafone?

There is an upcoming price increase with Vodafone on 1 November. Would I be able to keep the plan at the price shown today?

Cooling off period - is the 14 days from the day the order is placed or from the day the service starts?
