    Looking for 50cc-ish
    Currently looking at ms271/husqy 450.
    Wouldn't be brand picky.
    Any opinions?
    Thanks

Husky 550xp imo. No contest. The stihl ms261cm ain't bad but feels more cumbersome with a bit more torque.
    Speed and agility (the husky)
    Torque and weight (stihl)

The Solo 651 is a better alternative to those two

You have one? If so I'm curious as to why you believe it's a better alternative. Cheers.

    Either, or,!
    Both coming in around €600-650.
Probably double what you'll pay for Chinese trash!

However some of the Japanese saws such as Shindiawa and Tanaka are gaining a good reputation, and are slightly cheaper than those mentioned.

Personally, I'd stick to your choices, with location of dealer being the main factor!

    As for Solo........ Run,...Forrest ....run

    Haven't heard of Solo.
Got a deposit down on a 450, dealer is only 10 mins away. Whereas, Stihl are 24km away....
    Gave both a good look.

Solo are a German Brand. They are top notch, very popular in the Scandinavian countries. Used mainly by the professionals over there but Ive seen a good few foresters using them here too.
Not any cheaper than the other two, if anything slightly dearer but worth it. I`m using a larger 681 and have zero regrets.

They were a well regarded saw years ago but haven't seen any on a professional level in some time. Be interested to try and see one.

Local dealer price of Husky 450 is €699. I can bring it in from the UK for €530 delivered and from the US for €470 delivered including import charges. What are the downsides if I can get it maintained locally?

Stay away from American built Huskys, apparently they're 'soft'
Remember the 435's for€235 they were selling ar the ploughing 2 years ago?
They broke the main dealers hearts afterwards,'cos they all broke down and were told by Husqvarna to take them to a main dealer!
Know of one dealer who took in at least 40 of those piles of shyte in trade ins, said he "had to"
They were all American built huskys!!!

You could get a 550xp for around the same money, about half a kg heavier, but a far superior saw!
