Anyone know where i can get them? Online i'm not seeing the kind of thing im looking for. I need to be able to bore out the centre like this.

Might be worth dropping an email to this company, they manufacture so should be able to guide you:

Nice one, they do them though the courier cost is more expensive than the bricks themselves. If anyone knew of somewhere in Dublin? I tried ringing some pottery places that do kilns etc and some hardware places, no one has a clue. I found a place in the UK that with Parcel motel will be about 20 euro for 2 shipped, they generally sell for 3 or 4 euro each so somewhere local would be ideal.

You might try a recycling centre, see if there's any dead storage heaters. Don't know how soft the bricks are from them. Or maybe ask a builder or plumber for anyone taking out/changing a fireback for a back boiler etc.

I have 150 storage heater bricks was going to make a gas forge out of them and from research something about thermal value they are not efficient for a small forge but would work for a large forge heating heavy stock. Have a look here they have all sorts of stuff from bricks to wool http://shop.vitcas.com/

I was looking to purchase these before for a similar project and found that they are mostly known as Insulating Fire bricks. Try ebay they seem to have a good selection. You could use parcel motel to keep the shipping costs down.

These are the exact ones alright, they are not selling them singularly though and they dont ship them to northern ireland.

If anyone is looking for something similar this is the place that will do 2 shipped for just under 20 euro.

Depending on what you need it for
You can google coffee can forge for making your own refractory material eg
    youtube.com/watch?v=uIRTcmR6sSk

Or have a look at raku kilns for fire proof fibre and use a harder to mold a shape.

Just be careful if you are drilling a hole to treat the block waste material (grit and air) as if it was asbestos and mask up and dispose of fully all the material eg silica can damage your lungs and is a cause of silicosis.

Would the bricks from a storage heater do the trick?

    Electrical wholesalers have them
