    Hi,

I have a car insurance policy with Axa since March. They offer a partial refund when you pass your driving test as I did in June. I called them in June and they said great drop it in when you get it and we'll work from the date you passed your test. (They have a note of this on their system) I only got around to doing this in October and called into them. They said no worries you'll be refunded then said actually the date is wrong in your licence , it should show the date you passed your test not the date it was issued. I was flabbergasted as that made no sense. They said to ring NDLS and they'll provide a document to prove I sat my test in June. I called them and said that obviously the test date would not be on the licence and also said they've never had a request for a driving certificate for insurance purposes before . Axa are refusing to budge and the NDLS say that they don't provide the document needed. Anybody what's going on and is there any way forward?
    Thanks

Passing your test is not the same as getting your Full Licence. Insurers generally provide a credit from the licence issue date

TBH they are only really obliged to give a refund from the date you submit the required documents ie a copy of your licence. You passed your test in June but are only making the amendment now. If it were me Id be giving you refund from todays date and no more.

I didn't ask what you'd give. It's part of their company policy to refund from the date of the test passed, part of how they lure learner drivers to go with them. As my op said they will refund if I can provide them with proof of when I get my test. So don't know where you get your info from .

Axa provide from the date you pass your test .

The licence is always from the date of issue not the date you passed. Technically till you have the pink in your hand your still a learner and the restrictions that are associated with being a learner, so I don't see how AXA can give a discount when your still a learner.

Search the pdf below for "After you pass your test"

They 100 percent refund from the date you pass your test . They've since requested that I obtain a copy of my test cert. The woman in Axa said it's worth doing because it's 300 in the difference. But NDLS won't provide it. You obviously give in your licence too . Not sure why everyone is denying the existence of this .

Wouldn't the test passing part of things be certified by the RSA directly, as they deal with the learner driver and testing past of the process? NDLS only join the process when you apply for a licence, which isn't necessarily always done at the same time.

Have you contacted them to see if they can provide you with a copy of the cert? We're you not emailed one when you passed your test?

Yeah I was emailed the results but Axa won't accept that even though It's a pdf contained within an rsa email. They say they are happy to provide the refund until June and recommended I rang the NDLS, they said they had the cert but wouldn't be providing me with a copy. Maybe the person meant RSA. I'll try them tomorrow.

NDLS emailed me a copy of the original cert and I was refunded the full amount. Thanks.
