Hi, i just bought a 2010 mazda 6 2.2 diesel TS, car was driving perfect, then the other day whilst driving the odometer, rev counter and fuel gage all went to zero, car was still driving, radio was on with aircon and main lights all working, i pulled into a layby and turned off the ignition, and then the engine wouldn't start at all, no sound when turning the key at all, but lights, radio etc all still on, remote would open/lock doors etc, and a light was flashing on the dash with a car and a key in the middle of it, i looked this up in the user manual and it suggested security issue with immobiliser or code from key has been wiped, my mechanic has said its not an immobiliser or key issue?? Has anyone else experienced this problem or have any ideas? Thanks in advance

It sounds to me like the battery has died. Check it.

Has it started since? Has it a push button start? Maybe something to do with that .... Dash clocks, some cars have immobilisers built into them....
Have you a spare key? Does it do the same with that??

Regardless of current issues - fix it and offload it. That Diesel engine is just trouble
