Android boxes are not complicated but definitely not for the computer illiterate. If you do get this person one, you might as well move in with them as they'll be onto you every day for something or other.

Like I said in the other thread you made the likes of Nvidia Shield TV or other boxes that run Android TV.These are meant for the general users....well Android TV the OS is geared for mass users or the general market. But in my opinion it would still take a bit of learning,to get used to it.

There's no real easiest box to use, they(Past Android Boxes) are mostly similar, just with different launchers(themes) and would have run a general Android OS(like your Android Phone or Tablet....with apps etc, etc.)

But Android TV was introduced to bring it more to the masses via Smart TV's and boxes. With easier navigation and functions for novice users. But still not everyone will find it easy, out of the box.

I'm doing a bad job of trying to describe it,but the best thing to do is to look up some Youtube Videos on boxes with Android TV and some layout videos. Then look up boxes with Android OS(not Android TV) and see what way they generally work and are laid out. This might help give you an idea of what's best for the Elder person you speak of.

There are so many options out there, but if you get an idea of the basics behind them.....it should help come to a decision.Hope all that is of some use to you and makes a little bit of sense;)
