    Hi,
I have an air to water heat pump (3 year old) and it has never ever occurred or dawned on me that i should be servicing it.... just turn on the heating in late September, then forget about it until i turn off the heating in late April just leaving it running to provide hot water.
Do they typically need an annual service ?

    Cheers

Read your owner's manual first. There may well be a filter to clean periodically or the pressure relief valve may need checking. Obviously the heating circuit pressure should be checked too. I'd argue that a handy enough person would be able to avoid paying someone to service a heat pump but they do need some tlc now and again or they will fail.

it can also depend if it's a monobloc (all in one unit) or split. If it's a split system then only a registered person can maintain it as the refrigerant is not something domestic users are allowed deal with in that design? Something I only found out when making inquiries about buying one and yearly costs thereafter.....you could ask the supplier which it is.....I could be wrong but it's worth checking out....
