Water disruption in Beaumont

Hi, I have a house in Beaumont close to the hospital and 10 minutes walk from Artane. I read on the IW website and Twitter account that there have been works that "may affect supply" in Artane yesterday (Oct 24th) and on October 18th (see attached pic).

This has coincided with water problems in my house. Twice in the past couple of weeks the shower and toilets have stopped working and I had to get a plumber to fix the problems.

Can you confirm if there have been disruptions in Beaumont recently? Do you know if there will be more works in Artane?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Some_randomer,

    Thanks for getting in touch.

I can confirm that the following works have taken place in Artane recently:

    - 10/10/2016: Maintenance works to install a valve;
    - 18/10/2016: Essential repair works; and
    - 21/10/2016: Works to facilitate the repair of a valve.

Each of these works would have been affecting supply to Artane and surrounding areas. Once we receive notification of any works we update our website here. We also tweet from our twitter account @IWCare using #IWDublin.

Apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.

    Kind regards,
    Allanah

    Hi Allanah,

Thanks for your reply. Each of those dates coincide with problems I had in my house, so it looks like this was the cause. Toilets and showers stopped working etc. and I had to call a plumber twice to fix the issues, not to mention that the showers can potentially be damaged due to air locks etc.

Is there anything that can be done about this? Can I get IW to pay for the plumbing costs?

    Thanks.

    Hi Some_randomer,

I fully understand the inconvenience caused to you by these recent disruptions. However, we are not liable for failure of the internal plumbing system or individual appliances, this is a standard position and was previously adopted by all Local Authorities.

Supply disruptions and unplanned events can occur at any time on our network and we do strongly recommend that appliances should be fed from a storage tank in order to limit the impact of these events on the household.

    Kind regards,

    Allanah
