Why would you get a wife, and then give her away?

    The difference a comma makes.

My husband didn't get me a present and I didn't get him one. It's an expensive and busy enough time as it is without adding presents on top of it.

My brother in law got his now wife a bracelet and flowers can't remember what (if anything) else.. my other brother in law got my sister robes for the bridesmaids and flowers and perfume I think.... My fiances cousin got his wife a bunch of little (inexpensive/ soppy) pressies - socks in case of cold feet, tissues in case of tears, there were like 7 or 8 of them I think..
I'm getting married next year, I'd be happy with a card, we'll spend enough money on the wedding! :)

Talked to he OH about it, we think we will do something small with a personal message in a card. We will be staying together the night before the wedding so might be nice to do it in the morning before all the madness starts.

I know what I'll get him already, don't want to say encase he is checking here!

I got a really nice engraved pocket watch off my wife to show how classy a lady I'm marrying.

I got her a comic book commissioned of her life :D I wanted to make her laugh on the morning because I knew she'd be really easy to set off into tears. She was too afraid to look at it in cased she cried on the morning!

I gave mine access to the Civil Service Spouses’ and Children’s Contributory Pension Scheme. She can avail of this whenever she wishes, although it's unlikely that I'll be around to help her with the paperwork

Needless to say, she was overwhelmed at my generosity.

My husband got me flowers too. I love flowers, but we were going on honeymoon the following day, it was kinda wasted.

I got my hubby a card. He found it in our car two weeks later, nice and clean and still enclosed in cellophane. I'd forgotten to write it!

He has it in his bedside drawer as is.

I read the title as 'Did you get your wife, to be a present' :)

    Got her a Tiffany bracelet.

    About €200 in Brown Thomas.

Am I being naïve, thinking that's traditional to give her a ring as a present? Well, two rings: one for agreeing to be your wife and another for actually going through with it. How many more presents does a girl need before she gets half of everything you own? :pac:

Don't forget, the man gets half of everything the woman owns as well ;)

Including - in the case of a good friend of mine - her genital warts!

Happily, after many tears and much angst, the relationship has proved to be an enduring and very successful one.

I love the idea of getting a bracelet or earrings etc., something that I can pass down to my future children and tell them the story behind it.

I really want to give my OH something specific so it's really more about the giving then receiving for me.

What ever about a present, don't forget to thank your wife in your speech for organising the wedding. My brother in law was so nervous making his speech that he thanked the wedding planner, the hotel and staff and forgot to mention my sister. Ten years later he's still hearing about it :pac:
