    Hi all

my springer spaniel Sadie has started barking in the middle of the night at about 1am the past week. 1st time I thought was noises outside I went down and all seemed ok.
She sleeps in the kitchen on her bed or the arm chair.
last night I heard the paws running across the floor and she was in the chair by the time I opened the door.
She is walked every day no other issues and comes to work with me.
I'm concerned now the neighbours will hear never mind the fact she wakes the house up .It a high pitched bark and in bursts lasting 2 mins or so.
would putting her back in her crate at night stop this?
she is sleeping outside the crate about 5 months now.

    Thanks TD

The week leading up to Halloween is always trying for animals, possibly she's hearing a bang or a noise that doesn't wake you and is well over by the time you look around.

For the neighbours, I wouldn't worry about it just yet but it might be worth considering making her crate available to her again for the week that's in it.

On the other hand, my fella is driven demented by a cat that's recently taken to walking along "his wall" at the bottom of the garden, the nerve :pac: Again, something that would be over and done with by the time you get there.

If it goes on past this weekend, review the situation.

+ 1 for halloween. It's a very distressing time for animals and she is able to hear things we never would.there might be bangers going off a mile away...

Ours is going twitchy at the moment as well, chewing her paws and barking, nervous to go out in the garden alone after dark.

I'm finding Adaptil sprayed on the bedding helps her keep an even keel as well as pulling the heavy curtains and a blanket over her crate.

I wish the gardai would enforce the no fireworks regulations, at least until Halloween night itself!

Mines the same lately....the cold still nights make it easy to hear everything....we also have foxes coming into the garden at night which doesnt help.... my dog makes an awful thud as she hits the patio door :)

Maybe it's a mouse running across the floor. But it's just it's been the same time more or less all week. But crate is set back up for tonight.
