Dog training school needed....

We recently got a new dog from <snip>.
Shes lovely, very friendly and full of energy, but shes crazy when out on the lead and sees another dog. Its improved a little but I think it needs specialist training to sort out.
I'd prefer group training, as its probably cheaper and it adds an element of socialisation to the training.
Can anyone recommend a school in the Clondalkin/Tallaght general area? I saw a school called Dog Training Ireland in Blanchardstown, which would suit location wise, anyone got any experience of this one?

    Thanks.

DTI are long gone! I'd recommend Positive Dog Training in Sandyford - sounds like miles and miles away but it's not lol :)

I'd recommend AniEd in Tolka Valley business Park. Milo, our lurcher, just finished his "teenager training classes" and had similar issues to what you describe. We've seen a lot of improvement and we now know what to work on etc.

    Best of luck with Milo!

How old is your dog? Naas from Tallaght would be less than 30 mins - theres a training class (several dogs) in a park on saturday mornings - see facebook page The Dog Treanor

If you are looking for a trainer you should be looking at the adpt.ie site. They have trainers listed by area and could have someone in your area. It'll save you the drive and the car time on fido too. If you have a reactive dog (from your description, you do) I would recommend doing a one to one, as once your dog has gone across the threshold they probably aren't listening to you any more. You may not make any progress in group classes.

I attended a Click to calm seminar with Emma Parsons hosted by APDT recently and I have been putting into practice the techniques I learned with my reactive Rottweiler, I can tell you it is working and she has started to be less reactive. Now it is no miracle cure but with time I can see her being calm and easy to walk. Maybe look for a trainer who has experience with this method, I can tell you it works for me anyway.

    Best of luck.
