Oil leak

    Hi
    I have oil leaking on head gasket, and the oil is all over the place, I noticed when car is Idle, after some time fan starts, does that means that car is overheating? since I dont have indicator to see the temperature? and how long can I drive the car withouth fixing it since car is worth 380 eur and repair cost 450 eur. Thanks.

    The fan may start at any time to cool the engine. It does not mean car is overheating.

    What car and year is it? Do you have pics of the leak?

    Go see a few more mechanics and see what they say.

    Is it definitely the head gasket or is it leaking from the rocker gasket?

    Do you mean a rocker cover gasket?

    I don't think many cars would leak oil externally with a head gasket issue. Maybe a subaru would?

    Once you keep putting oil in, and its not got any other issues, then it'll last as long as you keep topping it up.

    thanks for replying back guys, unfortunately I can't post any url or images since I am new user. I don't know if its rocker cover or head gasket.
