Shame they don't give away pint glasses which suit the 500ml can that goes with it. Or sell cans which suit pint glasses.

A 530ml glass would probably be good for a 500ml can, or a 530ml can for a 568ml pint glass.

If you crack a can of guinness slowly it does not all froth all over the place, a little might come out. Leave this settle and you can pour a little into the glass and then put a full can in and get a decent head. Keep this can in the fridge for future pints.

The inverted can in glass method works perfectly for 500mls in a pint glass. Always get strange looks when I do it but once you've got the timing its super easy.

What is this method? Any demos?

I presume it is something like this.

The neglect to show the finished settled pint, which I would guess looks shite, falling short of the lip or else a massive head. At the start there is a shot of a settled "pint" which I would not be happy with.

If the head does indeed end up slightly above the brim (like my preferred ones in pubs) then I expect it must have a huge head on it to fill in the missing volume. I have never tried it.

By above the brim I mean like this. Or the photo already posted of the old style glass

I usually drink it straight from the can, you'd want to see the looks that gets from some people. Usually the type of oddball who would call themselves a "guinness drinker" yet has only tried 1 or 2 other stouts in their entire life, if even.

I'd drink Guinness fairly regularly, I'd give you a few looks to be honest! I'd say there's nothing wrong with it just be strange. I seen it the TV series 'Power' the guy cracked a can of Guinness open and straight from the can.

When I am out in a busy busy bar or club style bar I have started asking them just to pour it straight out, no waiting (cause they seem to forget about you and the drink) but can't say its made any difference, generally its settled by the time you get back. Whats the idea behind the waiting?

I have read quite a bit about it, most think its just a marketing gimmick, makes people think its special.

People who swear its vital should do a blind taste, many would be scared to as it would expose their religious belief as being BS. I have also asked for it poured in one, some barmen look at you like you asked them to spit in it.

It works fine. Crack the can, dump into glass and pull up as beer flows, leave a few min and have a nice drink

For impulse buys at the bar. A sneaky shot while waiting :D

8 for €10 in Centra too no glass, may be handier for people than Dunnes.

I was very sceptical of the inverted can technique initially, was converter by a Dub at college it seems to keep more gas in the stout instead of blowing big frothy bubbles out the top.

My local Dunnes had the 8 for a tenner but no glass!
