Gas boiler leaking water, RGI keeps saying warranty company will call me

    Hi,

My gas boiler has been leaking water during use for the last 2 weeks. Called the RGI who put it in originally and he couldn't fix it and concluded that it's a warranty job (it's within warranty < 3 years old).

He says he put through the request to the warranty company and says that they'll call me. They're not calling me (I keep my mobile with me at all times) and so I call him every couple of days and he says they'll call me back by so and so. This has been going on for the last 2 weeks.

At this stage would it be out of line if I requested the direct company number and a reference number so I cut out the middleman as it were and find out what's going on?

I apologize if I sound naive but surely a telephone call within 2 weeks to arrange a warranty visit shouldn't be that hard to manage for any modern company?

Would be great if there would be any RGI people here that could comment.

If you're wondering the boiler is an Ideal Logic Heat 18.

Where is the water leaking from?

Phone your installer one more time and ask has he heard anything. If he has no more information tell him that you are going to call the distributer directly yourself to find out when someone is going to be calling out to look at it.
Before you phone Davies make sure that you have the serial number of the appliance and they may require you to have the installation cert and annual service certs to hand.

Davies are always pretty efficient for warranty, call them directly as suggested above

    Hi guys,

Been busy IRL and almost forgot about this thread.

Anyways the problem was fixed by the warranty company.

Tested it for over a month with no leaks.:)

Looks like there was a very fine crack in the sump which would leak water out and this would pool at the bottom of my boiler before flowing out.

Bit hard to detect without removing the thing and holding it up in sunlight.

The engineer actually had a van with the required same parts and luckily enough had fixed the same issue on the same boiler make and model before so was able to zero in immediately on the issue.:)
