Adhesive to bond plastic pulley to metal roller

    Hi All,
As it says, I want to bond a plastic pulley to a metal roller and am wondering what the best adhesive would be.

I have an old treadmill and the drive pulley has started to slip on the front roller. I want to stop this and thought of using something like Loctite Epoxy for the job. The pulley itself has a snug fit on the roller but there used to be very fine teeth on the inside to keep it from slipping on the roller. Over time these have worn away hence it slipping. An new pulley on a roller is around €150 and it is not worth this so was going to try this before getting rid of it.

Any help offered would be greatly appreciated.

Can you post a pic of it?

A mechanical solution might be better.

So are you saying the brass coloured bit on the right is supposed to drive the black coloured (plastic) bit that drives the belt?

    Hi Steve,
Yes. The brass/silver piece is attached to a motor on the left of it, there are grooves where the drive belt attaches to it, the belt with the blue writing on it drives the pulley on the roller. Trouble is the pulley is slipping on the roller.

This pic might be better. I labelled a few bits in it.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Good tight wrap of gaffer tape would sort that

    Hi,

From what I can see there - there is a shaft that supports the roller with the belt on.

The brass -> plastic bit is a safety feature that is supposed to slip if something jams.

There are 2 possibilities: either the pulley driven by the motor is fixed to the main shaft or the tread belt / roller is. ''

If it was me I would drill a hole through whichever is the non fixed bit - through the roller / pulley and shaft, and put a split pin or bolt in.

Bear in mind that, while in reality this will probably make no difference, you may be defeating a safety feature and you need to make that decision yourself. :)

Look for SELF ADHESIVE PULLEY LAGGING
